Wedding Bells?

Marriage isn't just the wedding, no matter how grand it is. Many young couples think they know but act like they don't. It's a commitment, but not just between the couple. It's also a commitment by the community surrounding the couple ie family, friends, church to support the couple in their marriage – not just their wedding!
So why the need for regular church attendance & cells groups? So that strong relationships can be built ie strong community support for the long haul not just the short-term... marriage, not just wedding.
As pastors, we feel responsible to give and do our best for successful marriages – and yet our hearts go out to those who desire to marry without the desire to be committed – community wise I mean. I hope to build a Wedding Chapel one day that would be opened to the public.
I envision it to be a ministry to the unchurched to reach out and to help them towards their big day and beyond, and hopefully be an example of what community, commitment and marriage is all about. Meanwhile, it's back to reminding those who already (should) know that... it's not just about the wedding day.
Pray with me that "Dream Village Wedding Chapel" (ministries) can start soon so that many more unchurched young adults can be helped. For these precious ones we can start with "the wedding is everything"... hence the Chapel, and then help them understand that there's more! |
